Deal strengthens operations, boosts national footprint and positions the company among the five largest residential solar providers in the country

SunPower has taken a decisive step to reinforce its position in the U.S. residential solar sector. The company announced the completion of its US$37.5 million acquisition of Ambia Solar, a move that expands SunPower’s footprint to 45 states and secures its spot among the top five residential solar providers, according to Ohm Analytics rankings.
The rapid closing allowed SunPower to raise its revenue outlook for the fourth quarter of 2025 to US$88 million. The company also expects to deliver record operating income during the same period and maintain profitability in the traditionally slow first quarter of 2026.
Integration Strategy Moves Quickly and Adds Commercial Strength
According to SunPower CEO T.J. Rodgers, the acquisition reinforces two core areas: operational excellence and sales performance. Ambia brings to the table an operations team known for strong execution, while Sunder another recent acquisition is already boosting SunPower’s commercial results.
Ambia’s team adds 203 new sales representatives, bringing SunPower’s total salesforce to 2,027. Rodgers highlighted that the complementary strengths of both companies accelerated the organizational design of the new structure and helped reduce legal costs and timelines.
Internally, Ambia’s integration has already reached “IR0” SunPower’s initial milestone phase with the full integration plan defined and more than 400 checkpoints mapped. The Sunder integration, currently at the more intensive “IR3” stage, is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2026.
Path Toward National Leadership
Ambia Solar CEO Conner Ruggio said the merger creates a powerful platform with the leadership, talent and momentum needed to challenge for the No. 1 spot in the U.S. residential market. He emphasized that employees from both sides quickly assumed joint responsibilities after the closing, demonstrating operational alignment from day one.
SunPower forecasts that the addition of Ambia will generate immediate revenue growth and operational gains due to the complementary nature of their strengths.
Industry Consolidation Spurs New Opportunities
The acquisition takes place amid a wave of consolidation in the U.S. solar sector. SunPower sees this landscape as an opportunity to partner with well-run private companies and accelerate its national growth strategy. Backed by an active and experienced board including leaders from the tech and renewable energy sectors the company is already evaluating new targets.
SunPower also highlighted that Ambia’s business model remains resilient even under potential changes to the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC), strengthening the long-term strategic value of the deal.
