New large-scale Battery Energy Storage System to support Taiwan’s 2050 net-zero strategy and strengthen Saft’s long-term partnership with Foxwell Power Co.

Paris, October 24, 2025 – Saft, a TotalEnergies subsidiary, has signed a major contract with Foxwell Power Co, part of the Shinfox Energy Group, to deliver a 356 MWh lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Taichung, Taiwan. This new agreement represents Saft’s largest project in Taiwan to date and marks the company’s 11th contract in the country, reinforcing its growing leadership across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) energy storage market.
The Taichung BESS will consist of 108 I-Shift lithium-ion battery containers, offering a compact, high-density footprint designed to enhance grid stability, manage renewable intermittency, and relieve network congestion. The project plays a key role in advancing Taiwan’s 2050 net-zero target by enabling frequency regulation and renewable energy peak shifting.
Cybersecurity and Innovation at the Core of the Partnership
Cybersecurity was a decisive factor in Foxwell Power Co’s selection of Saft for this project.Saft’s fully in-house developed European control system combines hardware and software integration from module to system level, embedding artificial intelligence features and certified to the highest international cybersecurity standards.

“This is our fifth consecutive BESS project with Foxwell Power Co., and also the largest one so far,” said Vincent Le Quintrec, Saft’s ESS Sales Director. “With this milestone, our installed capacity in Taiwan will exceed 630 MWh, a clear reflection of the mutual trust and strong collaboration we’ve built over the years.”
Construction of the Taichung BESS is scheduled to begin in late 2025 and continue through 2026.
