ReneSola bets on innovation and expands productive capacity in China, eyeing global leadership in solar energy
In celebrating two decades of operation, the company inaugurated a new, state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, China, with an annual production capacity of 10 GW in solar modules.
The EnergyChannel team visited the company headquarters to closely follow a technical visit by a South American delegation of businessmen, distributors, and executives from the photovoltaic sector—especially from Brazil and Colombia.
This technical tour preceded ReneSola’s participation in the SNEC PV Power Expo 2025 in Shanghai, one of the world’s foremost solar energy events.
During the visit, ReneSola opened the doors of its production lines, showcasing details of its rigorous quality control processes, international certifications, and technological innovations in its product portfolio.
Highlights include continuous investment in Research & Development, driving solutions for various application scenarios—from large-scale plants to commercial and residential systems.
Executives report that the current focus is on accelerating digitization across the production chain, expanding the use of intelligent manufacturing systems, and increasing global presence. The new factory reflects this strategy, combining cutting-edge automation with advanced technologies such as N-type TOPCon cells.
Moreover, ReneSola is heavily investing in one of the sector’s most promising technologies: back-contact (BC) modules, also known as N-type BC.
These modules stand out by placing all electrical contacts on the rear of the solar cells, eliminating traditional metal bars on the front surface. The result is a panel with a larger light-capturing area, higher efficiency, and a cleaner, more sophisticated appearance—ideal for applications where aesthetics and performance go hand in hand. To meet the growing demand for this technology, the company is expanding its facilities and dedicating a production unit exclusively for developing and manufacturing N-type BC modules.
Strong presence at SNEC PV Power Expo 2025
ReneSola’s participation in SNEC 2025 was marked by the introduction of its premium line of photovoltaic modules, highlighted by the Rene 5N series. Equipped with rectangular 210R cells and TOPCon technology, the module achieves an impressive 23.2% efficiency, along with a design optimized to reduce operating costs and LCOE (levelized cost of energy).
The busy atmosphere at the company’s booth confirmed global market interest in the brand’s solutions, which rely on constant innovation to meet rising demand for clean, sustainable energy.
International recognition for excellence
The quality of ReneSola’s modules was recently validated by Kiwa PV Evolution Labs (PVEL), one of the world’s most respected independent testing institutions. The manufacturer’s high-efficiency bifacial modules were ranked as “Top Performer” in PVEL’s Product Qualification Program (PQP), recognition that underscores product reliability and performance under extreme operating conditions.
Global expansion and environmental commitment
With global shipments exceeding 25 GW, ReneSola is expanding its presence in various markets, providing complete solutions that include project financing through to solar plant operation and maintenance.
In the coming years, the company projects a more robust international presence, driven by its goal of actively contributing to the energy transition and building a low-carbon society.
The new Yancheng factory and the exclusive back-contact module unit symbolize this commitment and mark the beginning of a new phase of industrial expansion and modernization.
