SNEC China 2025 – Special Coverage by EnergyChannel
The global energy transition is reshaping the market and driving billion-dollar investments, pushing companies worldwide to redefine their roles in the renewable sector. Eyeing this dynamic landscape, NEOSUN has laid out a bold strategy to become one of the key players in this transformation — focusing on decentralized, scalable solutions tailored to the real needs of each market.
In an exclusive interview granted during SNEC China 2025 to Sérgio Carvalho, CEO of OAKSTREAM, Ilya Likhov, Founder and CEO of NEOSUN, shared the company's vision for the future of solar energy and distributed generation.
According to Likhov, the rapid growth of solar energy is driven not only by environmental concerns. “Modern civilization demands more and more energy, and the traditional centralized generation model can no longer fully meet this need,” he explained. For NEOSUN, the future lies in microgrids — with localized generation and consumption systems that reduce both transmission losses and infrastructure costs.
NEOSUN’s mission is clear: to deliver clean, affordable energy to businesses and industries across every region of the globe. To achieve this, the company is expanding its global footprint, opening new offices in Africa, the Middle East, and soon Latin America. The plan is to reach around 50 company-owned locations over the next three to five years, establishing itself as a comprehensive solutions provider tailored to regional market demands.
### Complete solutions beyond solar modules
Far from being just a solar panel manufacturer, NEOSUN positions itself as an integrated provider of energy generation, storage, and smart distribution systems. “The customer doesn’t simply want solar panels — they want reliable, affordable, and readily available energy, and turn-key solutions” Likhov emphasized.
One of NEOSUN's flagship innovations is the PowerHub, a modular and mobile solar energy unit that can be deployed anywhere in the world within hours, delivering immediate power. The company is also developing fully autonomous solar-powered EV charging stations, aiming to overcome the infrastructure bottleneck that currently limits the growth of electric mobility. The first rollouts are planned for the United States and the Middle East.
### Global growth with a startup DNA
Despite its solid presence in markets such as South Africa, Kenya, and the United Arab Emirates, NEOSUN still views itself as a fast-growing startup. Its ambitious expansion plan includes new branches in strategic regions of Latin America and Asia — particularly Mexico, Argentina, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
For Likhov, the multi-trillion-dollar renewable energy market still holds space for new players that offer flexibility, cutting-edge innovation, and tailor-made solutions designed for a variety of consumption scales.
### The future is solar — and beyond
NEOSUN remains confident that solar energy will be the world’s primary energy source in the coming decades. While emerging technologies like next-generation nuclear remain far from commercial feasibility, the sun, as the company puts it, is "the natural nuclear power plant already available to everyone."
But the company's vision reaches beyond Earth's atmosphere. NEOSUN is already considering future solar space harvesting projects — a futuristic concept that could revolutionize global energy generation. “Maybe in a decade, once we’ve outgrown our first phase and become a global energy giant, we’ll be ready to invest in this frontier,” Likhov revealed.
For now, the company remains committed to delivering accessible, replicable, and scalable solutions — connecting advanced technology with the world’s urgent demand for clean, reliable, and decentralized energy.
