Invinity Energy Systems has just announced the launch of ENDURIUM™, a fourth-generation modular vanadium flow battery designed to transform large-scale energy storage. The new technology promises to optimize storage projects, reaching capacities of up to 1 GWh and offering charge/discharge durations between 4 and 18 hours, with response times of less than one second and no cycle limits.
The new battery arrives at a critical time for the global energy sector, especially following the ratification of the Global Commitment to Green Energy Storage at the COP29 Summit in Azerbaijan, which aims to increase storage capacity sixfold by 2030. This means that the world will need 1,500 GW of connected storage by then, and ENDURIUM is positioned to meet this growing demand.
The new battery, which achieves up to double the energy density compared to Invinity's previous platform, complies with standards set by DNV GL, recognized for performance validation across the entire energy value chain. The previous VS3 system will remain available for systems below 10 MWh.
Among the applications of ENDURIUM, notable features include:
1. **High Performance in Cycling**: Unlike other technologies that face limitations, the non-degrading chemistry of ENDURIUM allows for prolonged and frequent discharges, optimizing revenue capture during market fluctuations.
2. **Ideal for Large-Scale Projects**: The system is designed to meet the demand of markets such as CAISO and ERCOT, making it an ideal solution for initiatives like the UK's LDES Cap & Floor Scheme.
3. **Pairing with Solar Energy**: Commercial enterprises can reduce costs and increase resilience by pairing ENDURIUM with solar sources, efficiently managing generated energy for nighttime consumption.
4. **Safety and Sustainability**: With excellent fire safety credentials, ENDURIUM is also designed with end-of-life recyclability in mind, with 99% of its components being easily recyclable.
Invinity invites interested parties to join its product launch webinars on December 12 and 13, where more information about this crucial innovation in energy storage will be shared. The event will serve as a platform to discuss how ENDURIUM can be integrated into specific projects.
With the demand for energy storage solutions expanding, the arrival of ENDURIUM promises not only to meet but potentially redefine the sector's needs, positioning Invinity as a leader in the global energy transition.
