In this first episode of "The World of Energy Transition" program on Energy Channel Brazil, we are pleased to welcome Daniel Lopes, founder of Hytron, a leader in the development of hydrogen-related technologies. Today, we are live from Campinas, where Hytron is preparing to inaugurate its new facilities.

Daniel brings over 20 years of experience in the hydrogen field, and his story is marked by perseverance and innovation. He shares his journey from Fortaleza, Ceará, to Campinas, highlighting the importance of his education and the challenges faced along the way.
Daniel Lopes' Journey
Daniel's passion for entrepreneurship began early, influenced by his family background. He is a descendant of Lebanese immigrants, and the life story of his great-grandfather, who overcame significant adversities to settle in Brazil, has inspired him throughout his life.
Daniel has always dreamed of being a businessman and was drawn to the world of engineering, particularly mechanical engineering. While studying Mechanical Engineering, his creative ideas began to transform into practical projects, including founding the Mini Baja Project at the Federal University of Ceará - UFC. His involvement in this project propelled him to explore new frontiers in mobility and energy.

After graduating, Daniel decided to move to Campinas to further his academic and professional career. Along the way, he faced financial difficulties, but his determination and vision consistently kept him ahead. He turned each obstacle into a learning opportunity, establishing relationships that would prove valuable throughout his journey.
Hytron and the Development of Hydrogen
Founded in 2004, Hytron started as a spin-off from the University of Campinas focused on hydrogen production through renewable sources. The initial focus was on creating an electrolyzer, but the project exceeded expectations. The electrolyzer developed by Hytron became the first PEM type to be installed in Brazil, solidifying the company as a pioneer in the sector.

Hytron not only developed technology but also integrated itself into Brazil's innovation ecosystem, collaborating with institutions like Unicamp and various companies in the sector. The 2020 pandemic brought challenges, but also opportunities to reinforce the importance of hydrogen as a solution for the energy transition.

Additionally, the company formed international partnerships, culminating in its acquisition by the German Group Neuman & Esser, allowing Hytron to expand its global footprint, with projects in various countries, including Chile, Poland, and the United States.
Promising Future
Daniel emphasizes that Hytron is committed to continuing its path of innovation and goes beyond providing electrolyzers; the company, now part of the Neuman & Esser Group, is also exploring other potentials of low-carbon hydrogen such as ethanol reforming, which has become a central topic in discussions about sustainability and decarbonization in Brazil.
Daniel Lopes' passion and commitment to promoting hydrogen as a sustainable energy source is an inspiring example for young entrepreneurs and students looking to make a difference in the world of energy transition.
Conclusion
Hytron and Daniel Lopes are proof that perseverance and innovation can yield significant results in an ever-evolving sector. Daniel's story serves as a powerful reminder that, with vision and determination, it is possible to turn challenges into opportunities.
