Strata Clean Energy has launched the Inland Empire Energy Storage project, which officially launched last week in Rialto. This 70 MW battery storage system is a significant development for the region, addressing the increasing energy demands in the Inland Empire while supporting the transition to cleaner energy sources.
As one of nine battery storage projects announced by PG&E in 2022, the Inland Empire Energy Storage project plays a vital role in the broader effort to replace retiring fossil-fuel plants like Diablo Canyon with clean energy solutions. This transition comes at a time of surging energy needs, fueled by the growing number of data centers supporting AI technologies, adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), and the electrification of sectors across the economy.
Beyond its impact on energy reliability and sustainability, the project also brings tangible economic benefits to the Inland Empire community, including:
An estimated $13.3 million in property taxes and $710,000 in utility taxes over 20 years
Over 92 construction jobs created locally
More than $50 million in local revenue generated during construction
70 MW Battery Storage Project Powers Inland Empire’s Clean Energy Future
